Bathroom Remodeling For the Financially Impaired

If you keep it simple when remodeling your bathroom you just might find your wallet a little thicker and your smile wide as ever.

Before starting your bathroom remodeling, try to think beyond the basics of "go", wash, bathe, and leave. Face it, the bathroom is probably the most used room of the house, so why not make it a comfortable and warm place to be?

When selecting new bathroom elements try to stick with items that are roughly the same size and shape as the old ones. Doing this will enable you to replace items in the same position. This can be applied to toilets, light fixtures, bathtubs, and cabinets.

Potted plants and fake plants are not costly and will do much to remove the "clinical" feel of a plain bathroom. Some even consider plants to be therapeutic when in the home environment.

How bad are your existing fixtures? Does the faucet/shower hardware/toilet really need to be replaced? If basic cleaners aren't getting the job done it may be worth your time experimenting with some of the newer high-tech cleaners that informercials and hardware stores offer. Sometimes you really can put a new shine on an old fixture and avoid even having to replace it.

Go ahead, splurge on a gallon of new paint! Not only will the fresh, vibrant color add to the overall appearance of things, but the smell of fresh paint also helps conjure mental images of cleanliness and newness to many people.

If your light fixtures are salvageable you may want to simply clean them up and make certain that you have soft colored light bulbs to give a comforting feeling of warmth. Use the same logic if purchasing a new light fixture.

You do not have to be insanely ambitious to achieve a friendlier, "home"-ier bathroom. Keep it simple and see what happens!
