Accessory Considerations When Remodeling A Bathroom

Making a accessory list before starting a bathroom remodeling project can be quite helpful, especially when working with small bathrooms.

Do you plan on having your fixtures and accessories match? If you don't have a list to guide you when selecting accessories how can you be certain that things will match? You could very well discover that the stainless steel accessory you purchased simply doesn't jive with the new bathtub/toilet/other fixture that you just had delivered!

Will the items you have selected to decorate your bathroom with even be available when you go to buy them? Make sure you purchase everything at once! Select the accessories as you choose the larger fixtures of your bathroom and purchase everything together at once to avoid "back order blues". In some cases people have avoided picking up the last few accessories until the "heavy duty" parts of their bathroom were complete only to find that the manufacturer no longer offers the item they want! Ebay time anyone?

Be certain that you have enough space to fit your new bathroom accessories. Will your nice new ceramic sink even fit in your bathroom? Get your dimensions in writing and bring them when you go shopping. Even though an accessory could go anywhere (in theory), you just may see that you need to reconsider leaving a bit more floor or wall space in your design to make things work. You wouldn't want to have a magazine-worthy design that isn't functional… AKA having the toilet paper holder on the wall behind the toilet!

Yes, a little forethought on the decorating front will go a long way on the implementation aspect. Make sure your plans include bathroom accessories.
